Medical Customer Service Representative

Key Responsibilities:

Job Overview
We are in search of a committed Customer Service Representative to fulfill essential functions related to the intake of patient information regarding durable medical equipment and respiratory products. This role involves interaction with patients, colleagues, and referral sources concerning patient services and third-party reimbursement.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Comply with company policies regarding the use of personal protective equipment and services.
  • Assist in troubleshooting customer equipment issues during emergencies.
  • Support the implementation of quality improvement initiatives to align with company and JCAHO standards.
  • Be available for on-call responsibilities outside of regular business hours as per company policy.
  • Notify supervisors of any vehicle issues that may affect safe operations.
  • Complete written reports following patient visits in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Deliver and instruct patients on the safe usage and upkeep of respiratory and HME equipment in home or office environments.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current HME products and services offered by the company, as well as relevant governmental regulations.
  • Acquire basic knowledge of reimbursement processes and ensure thorough documentation.
  • Keep assigned company vehicle in a clean and safe condition.
  • Manage home oxygen systems in patients' residences according to company policies.
  • Process all orders and required documentation promptly and accurately.
  • Report any equipment hazards or product incidents as mandated by company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Employment Requirements
  • Background check (company-wide).
  • Drug screening.
  • Valid driver's license in state of residence with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience with medical equipment and terminology preferred.
  • One year of relevant work experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry office equipment as needed.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds and transport patient equipment.
  • May be required to cover on-call duties, operate a company vehicle, and deliver to patients' homes.
  • Involves contact with patients and equipment with potential exposure to contagious pathogens.
  • Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking, and listening.
  • Requires close vision for reading small print on computers, tablets, and paperwork.
