  • We are seeking a Public Assistance Coordinator to join our response team for Hurricane Helene, who will provide critical support in managing public assistance and recovery efforts.
  • This role requires a strong understanding of FEMA public assistance programs, disaster recovery procedures, and experience in coordinating assistance to impacted communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Public Assistance (PA) Program by working with local agencies to assess and document eligible damages, response activities, and recovery needs.
  • Serve as a liaison between FEMA, state agencies, and local governments to facilitate clear communication and efficient resource allocation.
  • Assist applicants in preparing and submitting documentation for FEMA's Public Assistance Program, ensuring compliance with program requirements and deadlines.
  • Conduct site inspections and work with project teams to assess damage, verify eligibility, and review cost estimates.
  • Provide quality control (QA/QC) for all applicant submissions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare detailed reports, summaries, and documentation on project activities for submission to project managers and government agencies.
  • Track and monitor progress of recovery projects, maintaining accurate records in tracking systems and databases.
  • Educate and guide local stakeholders on the Public Assistance process, required documentation, and program regulations.
  • Identify and resolve potential issues with project documentation and compliance, coordinating with relevant agencies for clarifications.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience in disaster recovery.
  • 2-4 years of experience in disaster management or public assistance, preferably with FEMA PA program experience.
  • Strong understanding of FEMA Public Assistance Program requirements and disaster recovery policies.
  • Familiarity with disaster management software and data tracking systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with government agencies, applicants, and field staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel to disaster-affected areas as needed.

Estimated Salary Range:$70,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
