Position Overview

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) plays a pivotal role in enhancing patient care through the Synergy Model. This position involves:

Staff Development: Overseeing and mentoring newly hired staff during their initial 90 to 180 days in the clinical environment. The CNS operates within the nurse-patient, nurse-nurse, and nurse-system domains.

Collaborative Care: Promoting a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare delivery within a specialized area, ensuring that patient care is both comprehensive and coordinated.

Quality Assurance: Upholding high standards in nursing practice by implementing clinical protocols and establishing competency benchmarks for nursing staff. The CNS serves as a clinical resource, facilitating consultations and providing tools to evaluate the impact of nursing practices on patient outcomes.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Actively participating in clinical rounds with the healthcare team and fostering strong relationships with physicians to enhance teamwork and improve patient care.

Qualifications Required:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
  • Valid Registered Nurse License.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from a recognized provider.
  • Specialty certification (e.g., CEN, CCRN) upon hire.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in registered nursing within the specialty area.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CNS certification in the relevant specialty.
