The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is in search of an Advanced Practice Nurse to become a vital member of our Hematology/Oncology department at the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC), a prestigious Level II Trauma Center.
With a diverse range of over 30 medical specialties, ANMC acts as the primary referral center for Alaska Native and American Indian populations throughout the state.
This unique opportunity offers a chance to work within a supportive team environment, where you will collaborate with four physicians and another nurse practitioner to deliver comprehensive outpatient care for adult patients dealing with oncology and hematology issues in a modern clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting thorough patient histories and physical examinations.
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
- Prescribing appropriate medications.
- Formulating individualized treatment plans.
- Providing education to patients and families regarding treatment options, chemotherapy, procedures, and overall care plans.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, operating Monday through Friday, consisting of four 10-hour shifts each week from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. There are no evening, weekend, or on-call duties required.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary along with guaranteed student loan repayment, comprehensive health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. Additionally, you will receive 6.5 weeks of paid time off per year, 12 holidays, and 1 week of continuing medical education (CME) annually, with a $3,000 allowance for CME expenses. Our retirement savings plan includes a generous employer match, and we also provide a substantial sign-on bonus and on-campus childcare.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Nursing, certification as a Family Medicine or Adult/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from an accredited national certifying body, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification, and a State of Alaska Advanced Practice Nurse License.
Preferred qualifications include 2 to 5 years of post-graduate experience as a nurse practitioner managing hematology/oncology patients, along with OCN or AOCNP certification. We seek individuals with strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a flexible, culturally sensitive approach to teamwork.
