Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to join our team at the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality medical care to inmates, working closely with nurses, behavior health specialists, and social workers to ensure comprehensive care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical care to inmates, including emergency, urgent, and chronic care needs
  • Act as a liaison between the facility and local physicians and hospitals, collaborating on treatment plans and communicating with outside agencies as needed
  • Prescribe Schedule II-V drugs as appropriate, in accordance with State licensing requirements and the prescriptive authority of the Alaska Board of Nursing or the Alaska Medical Board
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to develop and implement treatment plans, ensuring continuity of care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of policies and procedures to enhance patient care
Requirements
  • State of Alaska licensure as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
  • National certification as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
  • Unrestricted DEA number to prescribe Schedule II, III, IV, and V drugs
  • Experience working in a 24-hour institutional setting, with responsibility for the care and custody of others
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Alaska State licensure and DEA licensure
