Emory Healthcare offers a comprehensive transition-to-practice program for newly licensed registered nurses with no prior experience as an RN. The 12-month Nurse Residency Program is designed to assist you in transitioning into your first professional role.

The program utilizes the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program, providing a series of learning and work experiences tailored to support your growth and development. As a resident, you will participate in the residency program while simultaneously completing your department orientation.

The program's key features include:

  • A four-hour monthly learning session, where you'll engage with clinical experts, collaborate on resolving clinical challenges, and gain valuable insights into resources available to support your practice.
  • An evidence-based practice project, which must be completed by the end of the 12-month residency program.

To be eligible for the Nurse Residency Program, you must possess a current RN license in Georgia or a Compact State by the start date, successfully pass your boards, and hold active Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification. Additionally, you should have graduated from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation for Commission Education in Nursing (ACEN).
