Tacoma-Pierce County Habitat for Humanity is seeking a committed Sales Associate to join our mission-focused team. In this role, you will play an essential part in our initiative to provide affordable housing solutions to the community. Your responsibilities will include assisting customers, delivering exceptional service, and supporting our sales goals. Your friendly attitude, strong interpersonal abilities, and product knowledge will enhance the shopping experience for our customers and contribute to the success of our organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Driver in optimizing pick-up schedules and routes for the Store Truck(s).
- Engage positively with donors and customers.
- Support retail operations, including cash register operations and sales transactions.
- Deliver superior customer service to both donors and customers.
- Comply with all store policies and procedures.
- Load and unload donation trucks as necessary.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience:
- Three years of retail sales experience preferred.
- Experience in retail involving construction or building materials/hardware is a plus.
- Experience in routing/scheduling and/or logistics is preferred.
Skills:
- Understanding of fair market value for new and used materials.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with experience serving diverse populations.
- Able and willing to lift up to 50 pounds, perform heavy manual tasks, and work standing or walking for extended periods.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Bilingual candidates are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods throughout the store.
- Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and moving items to maintain the store's visual appeal.
- Occasional climbing of ladders as needed.
