Position Summary
The Medical Assistant Coordinator serves as a vital patient care advocate, ensuring optimal clinical supply management, accurate documentation, and an efficient patient experience while adhering to OSHA/WISHA and other regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Medical Assistant Coordinator encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating direct patient care during office visits, which may include:
    • Organizing examination room instruments and maintaining necessary supplies
    • Disposing of contaminated materials and sterilizing medical tools
    • Positioning patients for examinations and procedures
    • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
    • Obtaining vital signs, patient history, and primary complaints
    • Executing other patient care-related tasks as required
  • Assisting healthcare providers during clinic procedures, which may involve:
    • Preparing patient examination and procedural areas using strict aseptic techniques
    • Positioning patients for extended durations, ensuring stability during procedures
    • Handing instruments to providers while maintaining a standing position for prolonged periods
    • Communicating test results to patients as directed by the physician in a timely manner
    • Documenting all vital information in electronic records and ensuring comprehensive medication and health history documentation
    • Conducting phone triage, post-operative follow-ups, and responding to voicemails promptly
    • Maintaining accurate patient documentation for visits and communications
    • Coordinating care and diagnostic testing with external facilities as directed by the physician
    • Assisting providers with e-prescribing and maintaining medication lists
    • Facilitating communication with referring physicians
    • Ensuring that medical equipment is maintained and supplies are adequately stocked
    • Completing other daily team duties and special tasks as assigned

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program is preferred, but not mandatory; training will be provided
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification in Washington State is preferred, but not mandatory
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical office setting is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and medications
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records systems is advantageous
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry
  • Exceptional customer service abilities
  • Strong integrity and interpersonal skills, demonstrating patience and empathy
  • Commitment to safety and confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
  • Efficient time management with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Dependability and consistency in work performance
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written

  • Ability to manage fast-paced and often stressful situations professionally

Work Environment
The work environment may include both office and clinical settings. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. The role requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges, and the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stretch for extended periods. Manual dexterity is necessary for computer use, and occasional lifting of items weighing up to 40 pounds may be required.
