About the Role

The Director of Finance and Accounting will play a critical role in leading the financial management and reporting functions of Alight, a global humanitarian organization. This position will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, as well as providing strategic financial guidance to the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Oversee the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with US GAAP and international accounting standards.
  • Financial Reporting: Manage the preparation of financial reports, including the annual audit and 990 reporting, to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring that all expenditures conform to donor requirements and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of finance staff, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to ensure their success.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization's mission and goals.
Requirements
  • Education: Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting, with a master's degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of advanced finance and accounting experience, with a strong background in US GAAP and management reporting.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of finance professionals.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software packages, including Serenic/Sylogist Mission, and experience with USAID and government grants.
