Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Geologist to support the Environmental business line in the Charleston, SC office.

This position will primarily work on Department of Defense (DoD) projects, utilizing basic scientific principles to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare technical work plans and reports.
  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Plan, execute, analyze, and report on environmental measures in natural systems.
  • Apply standard field practices and techniques to collect samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and prepare samples for shipping.
  • Apply knowledge of natural sciences to explain observations and study contaminants.
  • Prepare basic data and scientific documents.
  • Perform unsupervised field tasks and direct staff in the execution of tasks.
  • Review analytical data for general indicators of quality.
  • Coordinate with task and project managers, working with on-site subcontractors and field staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related discipline, plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related discipline.
  • Professional registration or on track to obtain professional registration.
  • Ability to travel for fieldwork and/or meetings.
