Job Summary

The Patient Service Center Representative II is a critical role in creating a positive patient experience by efficiently handling day-to-day operations related to financial clearance and scheduling. This position requires adherence to department policies and procedures, including verification of eligibility/benefits, pre-authorization requirements, available payment options, financial counseling, and other identified financial clearance related duties. Additionally, the PSC REP II is responsible for developing a thorough understanding of assigned functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completes both scheduling functions and registration functions with the patient for an upcoming visit during one call, including timely scheduling, providing important information related to the appointment, and verifying patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Secures payment of patients' financial liability and performs collection efforts as needed.
  • Verifies orders are complete and matches scheduled procedures, including indexing and exporting physicians' orders to the correct account number.
  • Collects and verifies required patient demographic and financial data elements, including determining a patient's financial responsibility and securing pre-payment for future services.
  • Creates a complete pre-registration account for an upcoming inpatient/surgical admission and completes all pre-certification requirements by obtaining authorization from the insurer and/or healthcare facility.
Requirements
  • Ability to work in a production-driven call-center environment.
  • Familiarity with working with dual computer monitors.
  • Basic typing ability and working knowledge of Windows-based computer environment.
  • Ability to multitask in multiple systems simultaneously and extensive multitasking ability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two plus years of college or completion of a related medical certification program preferred.
  • Telephone/call center experience and pre-registration and/or scheduling experience preferred.
  • Two to three years of customer service experience preferred.
Work Environment

The work environment is an office setting with occasional hospital work environment. Approximately 0% travel may be required.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay: $21.80 per hour, with compensation depending on location, qualifications, and experience.
  • Position may be eligible for a signing bonus for qualified new hires, subject to employment status.
