Job Summary

As a Senior Functional Safety Specialist at TRG, you will lead the functional safety engineering function for all electronics programs. You will interface with customers to collect and clarify functional safety requirements, track requirements through design, coding, unit testing, integration testing, validation, and release phases. You will also interface with internal groups such as system, electrical, mechanical, validation, manufacturing, project leaders, program managers, and external groups such as suppliers. Your creative approach will be essential in developing optimized system and software architectures that meet the safety goals from the customer. You will review safety solutions from suppliers and apply them to architecture designs. Additionally, you will provide effort estimates and support quotation activities. You will ensure functional safety elements are included in DFMEA and in manufacturing test specifications. As a mentor to other engineers, you will participate in the improvement of personal, departmental, and technological capabilities. You will support product builds, launches, and investigation of functional safety issues. Your strong problem-solving skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills will be essential in this role.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical, or Computer Engineering is required. A Master's degree is a plus. You will need 8+ years of experience in automotive or equivalent embedded systems and 5+ years of experience in automotive functional safety ISO 26262. Experience in automotive serial communication protocols such as CAN and LIN is also required. You should have experience in different microcontrollers and peripherals such as SPI, GPIO, PWM, etc. Software Quality and Process Improvement standards such as CMMI or Automotive SPICE are also necessary.

Preferred Requirements

Experience in C programming language for embedded systems is a plus. Model-Based development tools and AUTOSAR design methodology are also desirable. Automotive Cybersecurity and high-speed data networks such as Ethernet are also preferred. Power Electronics including HV electronics is also a plus.
