Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at University Hospital in Madison. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care to patients with acute thoracic illnesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care to patients with primarily acute thoracic illnesses, specifically disorders of the lung, esophagus, and mediastinum (non-cardiac).
  • Perform routine procedures such as chest tube removal, drain removal, suturing, J tube changes, and VAC dressing changes.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team including RNs, APPs, and surgeons within the Thoracic Surgery Service.
Requirements
  • Master's or Doctorate's degree from an accredited Nursing Program (for Nurse Practitioners) or Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited PA Program (for Physician Assistants).
  • Active RN and APNP license in the State of Wisconsin (for Nurse Practitioners) or Active PA license in the State of Wisconsin (for Physician Assistants).
  • Active board certification as a NP (for Nurse Practitioners) or PA board certification (for Physician Assistants).
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.
