The Detroit Medical Center is seeking an experienced nursing professional to join our team as a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for the Pediatric Unit. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will assume shift responsibilities, overseeing the care delivery team and coordinating the provision of care through assigning and scheduling staff. Key responsibilities include prioritizing and delegating patient care, evaluating staff performance, and participating in process improvement activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the interdisciplinary team to problem-solve system and unit-based issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and resource person for nursing personnel, acting as a clinical expert and assisting in planning and facilitating staff meetings and development programs.
  • Collaborate with managers to monitor staffing schedules, ensuring adequate nurse-patient ratios on each shift.
  • Facilitate shared decision-making among staff, improving unit throughput and reducing Length of Stay (LOS).
  • Develop and provide in-service programs to enhance staff competence in fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Assist with interview and selection processes, mentoring, and evaluation of staff.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and standards for the department.
  • Promote Process Improvement and Peer Review initiatives.
Requirements:

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  • An Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing, with a Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • A valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Michigan.
  • 1-2 years of progressively responsible experience, demonstrating leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, delegate tasks, and facilitate processes.
  • Level 6 of the Promoting Excellence Performance Criteria, if applicable.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000-$90,000 per year, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
