Position Overview

Core Responsibilities:

  • Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in a supportive learning environment.
  • Prepare for annual IEP meetings in a timely and organized manner.
  • Guide students towards achieving educational goals while implementing personalized learning strategies.
  • Utilize innovative teaching methods and adapt to diverse learning needs.
  • Maintain comprehensive records for special education students in compliance with legal and institutional policies.
  • Exhibit genuine care for students, promoting a culture of high expectations.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to provide resources and training that address IEP requirements.
  • Leverage technology effectively for instructional purposes, record-keeping, and communication.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

While we welcome a diverse range of experiences, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • A valid teaching certificate in Michigan with the necessary endorsements.
  • A Bachelor's degree with a commitment to pursuing alternative certification pathways, including passing relevant examinations.
  • Proficiency in using technology as a tool for instruction and data analysis.
  • Strong professional habits, as verified by references.
  • A thorough understanding of special education laws and guidelines, including IDEA and IEP processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a diverse student population.
  • At least two years of teaching experience.
  • A Master's Degree in Special Education.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching across various subjects.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
