Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service and ensuring a smooth registration and scheduling process.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients in the ambulatory clinics, providing a warm and welcoming experience.
  • Perform general clerical and reception duties, including data entry and verification of patient information.
  • Schedule, confirm, and cancel patient appointments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Verify insurance and/or third-party coverage to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare or administrative setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications, including electronic health records and scheduling systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare policies.
  • Experience working in a hospital or medical office setting, with a focus on patient access and registration.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluency in a second language, such as Spanish or Vietnamese, is a plus.
