Faculty Internist with Cystic Fibrosis Expertise

The ideal candidate will be board certified/board eligible and possess the necessary qualifications for licensure in Texas. We are looking for a collaborative individual who is eager to contribute to a dynamic academic setting.
Position Overview:
This role is intended to succeed a retiring physician who currently leads our adult cystic fibrosis program. We are open to candidates who specialize in pulmonary medicine or general internal medicine alongside their CF duties.
The CF Center at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCT) in Tyler serves a critical function in Northeast Texas, a largely rural region spanning approximately 17,456 square miles with a population of 2 million. Our CF Center is the sole accredited facility in this area, situated 100 miles from other CF centers in Dallas and Shreveport, LA, and about 200 miles from the Houston CF Center.
We provide comprehensive care for both children and adults, encompassing evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, patient education, and research. The CF Center has been affiliated with UT Southwestern and has maintained accreditation from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation since 1985.
The CF Center at UTHSCT plays an essential role in the community, offering care to individuals who might otherwise lack access to specialized CF services. Our facility features the only accredited sweat-chloride testing center in the region, and our medical director collaborates with nationally recognized experts in bronchiectasis and non-tuberculous mycobacterial diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly clinics and consult on hospitalized patients with CF.
- Collaborate with the CF care team to address the unique needs of each patient.
- Engage in the CF registry.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to research efforts as part of the therapeutic development network.
- Work alongside the center director and CF coordinator on the annual grant budget.
- Attend the annual North American cystic fibrosis conference.
