Faculty Internist with Cystic Fibrosis Expertise

The ideal candidate will be board certified or board eligible and must qualify for medical licensure in Texas. We are looking for a collaborative individual who is driven by the chance to contribute to an expanding academic setting.
Position Overview:
This role is intended to succeed a retiring physician who currently leads our adult cystic fibrosis program. We welcome applications from candidates who practice pulmonary medicine or general internal medicine alongside their CF duties.
The Cystic Fibrosis Center at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCT) in Tyler serves a crucial function in the region, being the sole CF Center in Northeast Texas. It is strategically located to serve a vast area with a significant population.
Our center provides comprehensive services that encompass evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, patient education, and research for both children and adults. The CF Center has been an accredited affiliate of UT Southwestern since 1985.
The CF Center plays a pivotal role in ensuring access to care for individuals who might otherwise lack it. Our facility is recognized for offering the only accredited sweat-chloride testing center in the region, and our medical director collaborates with nationally recognized experts in related fields.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Conducting weekly clinics and consulting on hospitalized patients with CF.
- Collaborating with the CF care team to address the unique needs of each patient.
- Engaging in the CF registry.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives.
- Contributing to research efforts as part of the therapeutic development network.
- Assisting the center director and CF coordinator with the annual grant budget.
- Attending the annual North American cystic fibrosis conference.
