Faculty Internist with Cystic Fibrosis Expertise

Position Overview:
This role will succeed a retiring physician who currently leads our adult cystic fibrosis program. We are interested in candidates who have experience in pulmonary medicine or general internal medicine alongside their CF duties.
The Cystic Fibrosis Center at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCT) in Tyler serves a crucial function in Northeast Texas, an area that spans approximately 17,456 square miles and is home to 2 million residents. Our center is the only accredited CF facility in this region, situated 100 miles from other CF centers in Dallas and Shreveport, LA, and about 200 miles from the Houston CF Center.
Our CF Center caters to both pediatric and adult patients, offering a full spectrum of services from assessment and diagnosis to treatment, education, and research. Since 1985, we have been an accredited CF Center affiliated with UT Southwestern.
The CF Center plays a vital role in the community, providing care to individuals who might otherwise lack access to specialized CF services. We are proud to offer the only accredited sweat-chloride testing center in the area, with our medical director collaborating with nationally recognized experts in bronchiectasis and non-tuberculous mycobacterial diseases.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Conducting weekly clinics and consulting on hospitalized patients with CF.
- Collaborating with the CF care team to address each patient's unique needs.
- Engaging in the CF registry.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives.
- Contributing to research as part of the therapeutic development network.
- Assisting the center director and CF coordinator with the annual grant budget.
- Attending the annual North American cystic fibrosis conference.
As a partner with the University of Texas System, our Graduate Medical Education program is a critical aspect of Ardent Health Services and is rapidly expanding.
