Payroll Specialist

ZARA USA is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team in New York. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting in payroll processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the financial and operational objectives of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll to ensure employee wages, deductions, and taxes are calculated accurately and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support timely payroll processing to prevent delays or errors that could impact employee compensation and company operations.
- Handle routine payroll tasks and assist in resolving basic payroll-related inquiries.
- Ensure changes to employee data (such as new hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations) are reflected in payroll accurately and promptly.
- Generate standard reports for Payroll Manager, HR, or Finance as needed.
- Assist in identifying and reporting recurring issues, contributing to training and procedural solutions.
- Maintain payroll-related activities, including time off accruals and holiday pay.
- Review payroll transactions for accuracy and completeness of data.
- Respond to employee questions regarding payroll policies and procedures in a timely manner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll records and protect employee privacy.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the implementation of best practices.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in high volume payroll (min. 2 years)
- Working knowledge of payroll systems such as ADP Vantage, Vantage Time
- Understanding of payroll regulations and processing laws, taxes at Federal, State and local levels: Multi-state experience preferred.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to handle competing priorities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing demands.
- Demonstrated reliability, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.
- Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar designation is a plus.
- Bilingual (Spanish is a plus).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel.
Annual compensation range: $59,000 - $95,000 + discretionary bonus
