Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our state-of-the-art cryo-EM facility, providing expert support to researchers and users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare samples, operate the cryo-EM microscope, and collect and analyze data for users.
  • Maintain and perform routine maintenance tasks on the electron microscope and facility equipment.
  • Provide training and support to users on cryo-EM techniques, data collection, and image processing.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for the facility.
  • Collaborate with the core director and users to allocate time and resources, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Requirements
  • MSc degree in structural biology or a related field, with at least two years of hands-on experience in cryo-EM and image processing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment, with a commitment to fostering a culture of respect and equity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD with extensive experience in cryo-EM and image processing.
  • Track record of publications in cryo-EM, single-particle image processing, and 3D reconstruction.
  • Experience with cryo-EM image processing and model building software, such as cryosparc and Relion.
  • Previous experience in a centralized core facility or shared resource, preferably at a managerial level.
