Position Summary

As a Principal Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at VeeAR Projects Inc., you will take charge of the architecture, development, and management of sophisticated private cloud systems. This role demands a forward-thinking individual who can innovate and implement effective technology solutions, drawing on extensive expertise in hardware automation, server management, and large-scale system architecture. Your contributions will be crucial in transforming strategic goals into operational success, significantly impacting the organization's advancement in the private cloud sector.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous management of scalable private cloud environments utilizing OpenStack and MaaS.
  • Create automation workflows for the provisioning, configuration, and administration of bare metal servers in extensive settings.
  • Perform thorough performance evaluations and enhancements of Metal and Cloud infrastructures, emphasizing efficiency, reliability, and integration with private cloud projects.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design and enhance tools that automate and optimize infrastructure deployment and operations.
  • Produce high-quality, well-documented code, adhering to OpenSource community development standards.
  • Contribute to the strategy and execution of data protection, disaster recovery, and security measures across all private cloud systems.
  • Promote continuous improvement by keeping abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices, ensuring the security, stability, and scalability of system architecture.
  • Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of the solutions provided.
  • Lead multiple initiatives and provide guidance to engineering teams.
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python, C#, and other object-oriented languages, along with SQL and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, and various Azure tools and services.
  • Share best practices consistently and enhance processes within and across teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers, offering insights and guidance related to cloud infrastructure and system management best practices.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in OpenStack components and services.
  • Proficient in KVM and Metal as a Service platforms.
  • Proven ability to design and implement intricate IT solutions on a large scale.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python and Go.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IAC) methodologies, particularly Terraform.
  • Proficient in Ansible for configuration management and deployment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, including administration and scripting.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security (TCP/IP, HTTP, load balancing, etc.).
  • Experience with Operating Systems design, deployment, and debugging, especially in Linux and Windows environments.
  • Hands-on experience with configuring and integrating cloud storage technologies such as fiber channel storage, SAN, and Software Defined Storage like Ceph and MINIO.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a proven record of overcoming technical challenges.
  • Effective communication abilities, capable of fostering strong relationships with team members, stakeholders, and external partners.

Experience Requirements

  • 6+ years in a similar capacity, focusing on OpenStack cloud environments and hardware automation.
  • 6+ years of demonstrable experience in designing, deploying, and managing large-scale private clouds.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in systems/server management with technologies like Redfish, BMC, and IPMI standards.
  • 5+ years of experience integrating and configuring cloud storage solutions such as direct attached storage, Storage Area Network (SAN), JBOD/JBOD.
  • 5+ years of experience with security protocols and products, including understanding of Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, and OAuth.
  • 4+ years of experience in a collaborative development environment, utilizing modern software development methodologies.
  • 4+ years of scripting/coding experience in one of the following languages: C/C++, Bash, Python, or Go.
  • 4+ years of experience in developing and maintaining large-scale, high-availability systems.
  • 4+ years of solid engagement with OpenSource communities, contributing to projects, forums, or discussions.

Preferred Experience

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in systems architecture and design.
  • 6+ years of experience in open-source frameworks.
  • 4+ years of experience working with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.
  • 3+ years of technical leadership experience.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
