Job Title: Director of Special Academic Programs

North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a key leadership position in the College of Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing programs to ensure a competitive engineering workforce.

Job Summary

The Director of Special Academic Programs will design and manage key programs for enabling experiential learning opportunities in the College of Engineering. This includes developing and implementing programs to enhance student learning, faculty engagement, and community partnerships.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs to enhance student learning and faculty engagement
  • Manage key programs for enabling experiential learning opportunities
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to develop and implement programs
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness
  • Develop and manage budgets for programs
Requirements

The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree from an appropriately accredited institution and at least 8 years of demonstrated experience in areas relevant to the responsibilities of the position. The candidate must also have sufficient scholarly achievement, an established record of effectiveness at or beyond the department level in strategic planning, administrative processes, grant development and grant management.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate should have an understanding of the dynamics of the different degree programs in the College of Engineering, strong collaborative leadership skills, knowledge of university organizations, an ability to build effective working relationships with constituents, a commitment to increasing diversity in a STEM academic environment, and a desire to work as a part of an administrative team both inside the College of Engineering and in the university community at-large.
