Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Specialist to join our team at DATTCO. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll data, maintaining payroll records, and resolving any payroll-related issues.
Key Responsibilities- Process payroll for employees accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with all relevant payroll laws and regulations.
- Analyze and verify payroll data for accuracy, including salaries, hours worked, and deductions.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or errors in payroll calculations.
- Prepare and distribute pay statements, reports, and tax filings.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of employee absenteeism, tardiness, and leave balances.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as HR and Finance, to ensure smooth payroll processing and resolve any payroll-related issues.
- Stay up-to-date with payroll regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and make recommendations for process improvements.
- Provide timely and accurate responses to employees' payroll-related inquiries.
- Assist with payroll audits and support internal and external audits, as necessary.
- New hire onboarding.
- Terminations, unemployment inquiries.
- Processing garnishments, levies & verifications of employment (VOE).
- Reconciliation of 401k and Union benefits.
- Expert knowledge of payroll systems.
- Understanding of configuration and maintenance allowing for improved efficiency through automation.
- Degree in accounting or related field or commensurate experience.
- 5+ years payroll processing experience.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, including tax laws, wage and hour laws, and labor regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts to employees.
- Knowledge of payroll, garnishments and benefits distribution.
