About the Department: The Department of Politics and Public Affairs at Denison University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professor to join our team. Our department is committed to providing a rigorous and engaging education to our students, and we are looking for someone who shares our passion for teaching and research.

Job Summary:

  • Teach introductory and upper-division courses in comparative politics, including courses on constitutionalism, policy analysis, and social movements.
  • Develop and teach a rotating set of upper-division courses in comparative politics broadly and in their areas of expertise.
  • Contribute to the integration of the theoretical with experiential elements of our major.
  • Maintain an ongoing research agenda and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Support the University's commitment to liberal arts education and be an active participant in departmental and university governance.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach a range of courses, including introductory and upper-division courses in comparative politics.
  • Develop and teach new courses in comparative politics, including courses on constitutionalism, policy analysis, and social movements.
  • Conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Participate in departmental and university governance, including serving on committees and contributing to departmental and university initiatives.
  • Advise students and provide mentorship to junior faculty members.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Political Science or closely-related field by start date.
  • Teaching experience at the college level, with a demonstrated ability to teach introductory and upper-division courses in comparative politics.
  • Research experience, with a demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Independent teaching experience (beyond TA) is preferred.
  • Experience working in a liberal arts setting is preferred.
