Position Summary

The Base Sales Manager plays a crucial role in driving sales, distribution, and merchandising of products within commissary stores located at military bases. The primary objective is to enhance sales performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the introduction of new products during each visit.
  • Secure orders for new items and ensure adequate shelf space is allocated appropriately.
  • Promote upcoming sales events effectively.
  • Gather orders for promotional products and ensure sufficient display space is arranged to optimize sales volume.
  • Engage with buyers to review sales strategies and plans.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, distributors, retailers, and buyers regarding product details such as pricing, quantities, and warranties.
  • Ensure that all products are correctly displayed and shelved in all assigned retail locations.
  • Verify that proper pricing signage is displayed for all products represented.
  • Utilize computer systems to manage and document credits on markdowns and returns.
  • Oversee product distribution through online reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with store staff to ensure that displays and shelves meet the standards set by account and store managers.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient in effective sales techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, buyers, and customers.
  • Familiarity with grocery merchandising practices.
  • Understanding of grocery marketing strategies.
  • Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to work in cold storage environments for prolonged durations.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs repeatedly.
  • Willingness to travel overnight as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in outside sales.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and web-based applications.
