Department: Military Sales

Reporting To: Area Sales Manager

Employment Type: Part-Time

Position Summary

The Base Sales Manager plays a crucial role in driving sales, distribution, and merchandising of products within commissary stores located at military installations. The primary objective is to enhance sales performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Introduce new product distributions during each visit.
  • Secure orders for new items and ensure sufficient shelf space is allocated appropriately.
  • Promote all forthcoming sales initiatives.
  • Gather orders for promotional products and ensure adequate display space is committed to maximize sales potential.
  • Engage with buyers to review sales strategies.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, distributors, retailers, and buyers regarding product details, including pricing, quantities, and warranties.
  • Ensure all products are properly shelved and displayed in all assigned accounts.
  • Verify that accurate pricing signage is displayed for all products represented.
  • Utilize computer systems to document and invoice credits related to markdowns.
  • Oversee product distribution through web-based reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with store personnel to ensure that displays and shelves meet the standards established by account and store managers.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient selling skills and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with buyers, clients, and customers.
  • Understanding of grocery merchandising principles.
  • Knowledge of grocery marketing strategies.
  • Strong command of the English language, both spoken and written.
  • Good analytical abilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to work in cold storage environments for prolonged durations.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs repeatedly.
  • Overnight travel may be necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in outside sales.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and web-based applications.
