Avera McKennan Hospital is a leading health care organization that has been recognized for its excellence in patient care and employee satisfaction. We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in the Stem Cell Laboratory.

About the Role

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for performing a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures, and related duties. This includes utilizing scientific principles, technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day laboratory technical operations, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance, and corrective action.

Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical laboratory tests, procedures, and related duties
  • Utilize scientific principles and technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes
  • Maintain quality control, quality assurance, and procedure/instrument maintenance
  • Participate in corrective action and test result correlation
  • Stay up-to-date with clinical laboratory-related continuing education
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist program, or a Bachelor's degree and one to two years of experience/training acceptable to the ASCP or AMT for the Medical Laboratory Scientist. Six months of Blood banking experience is required, with Stem cell handling/processing experience highly desired. Flow cytometry and molecular experience are also highly desired.

This position may be eligible for a $15,000 Sign-On Bonus with a 3-year commitment. Additionally, this position may be eligible for Avera's Student Loan Repayment Program, which helps you pay off your loans and save money.

Work Schedule

The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, with shifts ranging from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm. Either 8 or 10 hour shifts are available, with on-call duties every 3rd week/weekend. This is a full-time position, requiring 80 hours every 2 weeks.
