Avera McKennan Hospital is a leading health care organization that has been recognized for its excellence in patient care and employee satisfaction. We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in the Stem Cell Laboratory.

About the Role

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for performing a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures, and related duties. This includes utilizing scientific principles, technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day laboratory technical operations, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance, and corrective action.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and completion of NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist program, or a Bachelors degree and one to two years of experience/training acceptable to the ASCP or AMT for the Medical Laboratory Scientist
  • Six months Blood banking experience required
  • Stem cell handling/processing experience highly desired
  • Flow cytometry experience highly desired
  • Molecular experience highly desired

Work Schedule

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will work Monday-Friday, with shifts ranging from 6:30 am - 4:30 pm, either 8 or 10 hour shifts. On-call duties will be every 3rd week/weekend. The position is full-time, with 80 hours every 2 weeks.

Compensation

The hourly range for this position is $41.50 per hour, with actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
