Job Summary

Swinerton Inc. is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for planning and managing estimating activities for specific construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review project plans, requirements, and specifications to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and materials pricing to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate subcontract solicitations and jobwalks to ensure timely completion.
  • Determine labor and construction equipment costs to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Prepare conceptual estimates to present to clients.
  • Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules to ensure timely completion.
  • Submit requisitions for purchase of materials to ensure timely delivery.
  • Compare competitive trade bids to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager to ensure accuracy.
  • Secure all bid documents, including bid forms and quote letters.
  • Prepare subcontractor bid list and submit drawings to subcontractors.
  • Participate in bid compilation on bid day to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award to ensure timely completion.
  • Perform post-bid buyouts (if applicable) to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain good relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery.
  • Supervise and train estimating staff (if applicable) to ensure accuracy.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned to ensure timely completion.
Requirements
  • Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years project engineering or related experience.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings.
  • Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations.
  • Working knowledge of construction costs and principles.
  • Estimating experience, including quantity takeoffs, purchasing, and accounting.
  • Drafting and computer skills.
