Job Summary

Mark III Construction is seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator to join our team. As an HVAC Estimator, you will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating project plans and specifications to create accurate bid proposals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Review and Evaluation: Review and evaluate project plans and specifications, bid documents, and other relevant documents to identify what is needed to create a bid proposal.
  • Cost Calculation: Calculate the cost of HVAC construction based on reviewing and evaluating available documents.
  • Client and Vendor Communication: Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Collaboration with Engineers and Architects: Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Estimate Preparation: Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Job Site Walk-Throughs: Attend job site walk-throughs as necessary to ensure that any field conditions that may potentially affect or impact the construction, prospective bid, or pre-construction designs are properly handled.
  • Change Order and Cost to Complete Estimates: Work alongside other estimators, project managers, and project engineers on change orders and cost to complete estimates of ongoing projects.
  • Value Engineering: Analyze projects for value engineering options while taking into account specific job conditions that may affect labor and material to be purchased and installed.
  • Bid Document Review: Identify any inconsistent issues, conflicts, and other problems in the bid documents.
  • Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with other MEP disciplines either internally or externally.
  • Problem Prevention and Resolution: Anticipate potential problems and be proactive by taking action.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Develop and maintain a positive relationship with vendors.
  • Bid Document Preparation: Prepare bid documents, including specific scope letters for each project.
  • Design Build Projects: Conceptually design HVAC solutions for design build projects.
  • Estimating and Sales Meetings: May attend estimating/sales meetings and project meetings to discuss bid status and present/solve problems.
  • General Contractor and Site Personnel Meetings: Meet with general contractors and site personnel as needed.
  • Bid Progress Updates: Keep company personnel, clients, general contractors, and all others current on bid progress.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in HVAC estimating on commercial projects.
  • Mathematical Skills: Strong mathematical skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Estimating Software: Experience with Autobid (Quickpen) is a plus, as well as other estimating programs.
  • Field Experience: Previous field experience is preferred.
  • Code Knowledge: Knowledgeable of SMACNA, CMC, and local codes.
