Job Summary

The Director of Data Strategy will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the Institute's mission and goals. This role will oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to inform decision-making processes and drive strategic planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify data needs and priorities.
  2. Oversee the development and implementation of data management systems and tools to streamline data collection, storage, and retrieval processes.
  3. Supervise business and data analysts in implementing data-driven strategies to enhance operational efficiency, academic programs, and student success initiatives.
  4. Develop formal reporting procedures and SQL queries to address external compliance reporting requirements.
  5. Collaborate with senior leadership to define strategic priorities and goals, leveraging data to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
  6. Provide strategic guidance and recommendations based on data analysis to support initiatives aimed at enhancing student recruitment, retention, and academic program development.
  7. Foster a culture of data literacy and evidence-based decision-making throughout the Institute.
  8. Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of institutional data.
  9. Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in data analytics and educational technology.
Requirements
  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics at an institute of higher education.
  2. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
  3. Proficiency and experience in data programming languages such as SQL, Stata, and SPSS.
  4. Proficiency and experience in data analytics and visualization tools like Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
  5. Proficiency and experience in data governance technologies like Microsoft Purview or Informatica.
  6. Proficiency and experience in data warehouse technologies like Microsoft Azure Data Lake Storage or Snowflake.
  7. Strong understanding of data management principles including data governance, quality assurance, and security.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  9. Demonstrated leadership ability, including experience and comfort managing and motivating teams to drive organizational change.
  10. Ability to analyze problems quickly and find effective solutions; ability to use sound judgment and refer issues out appropriately; ability to think strategically.
  11. High degree of integrity, maturity, flexibility, and accountability.
  12. Attention to detail and accuracy, with strong quality and customer service focus.
  13. Experience with databases to effectively participate in their design, testing, and implementation.
  14. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  15. Ability to work independently and balance a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  16. Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
