As a Diesel Technician Roadside Assistance Specialist at Penske, you will be responsible for providing top-notch service to our customers who require roadside assistance. This role involves diagnosing and repairing various maintenance issues on trucks in all weather conditions, ensuring the safety of our customers and their vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond promptly to roadside assistance calls and repair units by identifying and determining the necessary parts for replacement and warrantable repairs.
Perform diagnostics and non-roadside assistance call repairs as needed.
Restock the rapid assist vehicle with tools, parts, tires, and other supplies required for effective roadside assistance.
Perform maintenance or repairs on the road assist vehicle as required.
Assist with designated in-shop repairs as directed by the supervisor when not on road calls.
Requirements:
2-4 years of practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance is required.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Vocational/technical or certification is preferred.
Specialized training in the repair and replacement of vehicle components is preferred.
Proficiency in the use of shop tools is required.
A current CDL license with air brake certification is required.
Basic computer skills for data entry into maintenance systems are preferred.
Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions is required.
The associate must understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management.
The associate must be able to perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be required to move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods throughout their scheduled working period.
The associate is required to use their hands on a routine and daily basis to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and/or otherwise operate required tools or controls.
The associate must be able to work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated working platforms.
The associate must be able to safely work in all weather conditions.
Given the frequent movement of large trucks through the workplace, the associate must be able to see and hear in order to safely navigate the work environment.
The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
