Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Technician Invasive is a specialized technician who is proficient in all phases of cardiac invasive and non-invasive testing. This position requires a strong understanding of cardiopulmonary anatomy, sterile technique, and invasive and non-invasive testing. The technician will assist physicians in diagnostic procedures, perform hemodynamic collection and analysis of parameters, and recognize and report abnormal hemodynamic parameters and arrhythmias.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist physicians in diagnostic procedures, utilizing knowledge of cardiopulmonary anatomy, sterile technique, invasive and non-invasive testing.
  • Perform hemodynamic collection and analysis of parameters, arrhythmias for final diagnostic report.
  • Operate computer, monitors, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Recognize and report abnormal hemodynamic parameters and arrhythmias.
  • Actively provide patient care by assuring patient information, comfort measures, and awareness considering age appropriateness.
  • Complete and maintain proper record keeping for accurate patient identification.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and document daily measurements and adjustments and other activities to participate in Quality Improvement Programs.
  • Promote effective working relationships to facilitate department goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for own professional development to ensure appropriate knowledge and skills.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of CPR with current certification.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and ability to work in sterile environment.
  • Knowledge of scientific principles as related to cardiovascular technology.
  • Knowledge of primary arrhythmia interpretation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidentially with professional staff, patients, and families.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment including exposure to all patient elements, i.e., blood-borne pathogens. Lifting, pulling patients, pushing of stretchers required. Standing/walking for extended periods of time while wearing lead-lined apron is required.
  • High School Diploma.
  • One (1) to two (2) years experience in Clinical Cardiology setting.
  • Physical and biological sciences.
  • Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures.
  • Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility.
