Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Per Diem Registered Nurse to join our team on Fridays. You will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care within our women's health clinic, encompassing a range of services including family planning, prenatal care, colposcopy, abortion, and HIV services.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care and counseling to patients across various women's health services, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with clinicians to identify potential psychosocial, medical, and nutritional concerns. Provide guidance, education, and referrals as needed.
  • Provide essential support in all aspects of abortion care, including acting as Charge Nurse to manage patient flow. Offer pre- and post-procedure counseling for patients undergoing medical or surgical abortions. Oversee the care of post-operative patients on surgical abortion days and supervise medical assistants in the recovery room.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations by providing prompt nursing assessments and interventions.
  • Conduct follow-up phone calls with patients within 24-48 hours after surgical abortions, ensuring their well-being and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Triage family planning and gynecological patients, assisting clinicians as required.
  • Prepare and administer medications and immunizations according to established orders.
  • Assist clinicians in managing inpatient follow-up activities for abnormal laboratory results, pap smears, and other relevant cases.
  • Provide phone triage for patients experiencing medical issues or seeking information.
  • Perform laboratory tests and collaborate with clinicians to ensure appropriate follow-up for any abnormal results.
  • Screen individuals using hormonal contraceptives for potential warning signs and minor side effects. Authorize medication refills as directed by the clinician.
  • Contribute to the management of our prenatal program, ensuring patients receive coordinated care. Deliver prenatal education sessions, track labs and referrals, follow up on missed appointments, monitor delivery outcomes, and ensure postpartum visits are scheduled.
  • Maintain accurate prenatal records, conduct quarterly audits, and perform chart reviews as assigned.
