Position Overview

We are currently seeking a per-diem Advocate to join our team at a shelter. The Advocate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of families and children residing in the shelter. Responsibilities include enforcing shelter policies, completing necessary intake documentation, and conducting regular safety checks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain composure and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations.
  • Manage special projects as assigned.
  • Conduct intake assessments for new clients.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to clients in achieving their objectives.
  • Foster and sustain positive relationships with clients and team members.
  • Collaborate effectively to set goals, address challenges, and enhance program effectiveness.
  • Implement conflict resolution techniques.
  • Perform routine safety perimeter checks.
  • Document and address rule violations appropriately.
  • Assist clients in accessing their personal belongings.
  • Supervise clients during medication self-administration.
  • Assist with meal service.
  • Oversee bedtime routines, including distribution of linens.
  • Conduct regular checks of sleeping areas and bathrooms, documenting for safety.
  • Manage clothing donations as needed.
  • Facilitate shower times and distribute personal care items.
  • Accurately report and document incidents.
  • Provide transportation for clients when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Available Shifts:

  • 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM
  • 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is required. A minimum of one year of experience in human services is preferred. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, is essential. A valid and clean NYS Driver's License is mandatory.

Flexibility to work at various locations and weekends is essential.
