With a wide array of over 60 social service and mental health programs across multiple locations, we are devoted to supporting the most vulnerable members of our community.
Position Overview
We are currently seeking a per-diem Advocate for our homeless shelter. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of families and their children within the shelter environment. The Advocate will be tasked with enforcing shelter policies, managing intake procedures, and conducting safety checks.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize sound judgment and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
- Manage special projects as assigned.
- Conduct intake assessments for new clients.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to clients in achieving their objectives.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with clients and team members.
- Collaborate effectively to set goals, resolve issues, and improve program outcomes.
- Implement conflict resolution techniques as necessary.
- Perform regular safety checks throughout the facility.
- Document and address rule violations appropriately.
- Assist clients in accessing their personal belongings.
- Supervise clients during medication self-administration.
- Facilitate meal service for residents.
- Oversee bedtime routines, including the distribution of bedding materials.
- Conduct routine checks of sleeping areas and restrooms for safety compliance.
- Manage clothing donations and provide access as needed.
- Supervise shower times and distribute personal care items.
- Accurately report and document all incidents.
- Provide transportation for clients when required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Available Shifts:
- 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM
- 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM
Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is required. A minimum of one year of experience in human services is preferred. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, is necessary. A valid and clean NYS Driver's License is also required.
Flexibility to work at various locations and weekends is essential.
