Position Overview
We are currently seeking a per-diem Advocate for our homeless shelter operations. The Advocate plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of families and children residing in the shelter. Responsibilities include enforcing shelter regulations, completing necessary intake documentation, and conducting regular safety checks.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain composure and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations.
- Manage special projects as assigned.
- Conduct intake assessments for new clients.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to clients in achieving their objectives.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with clients and team members.
- Collaborate effectively to set goals, address challenges, and improve program outcomes.
- Implement conflict resolution techniques.
- Perform regular safety perimeter checks.
- Document and address rule violations appropriately.
- Assist clients in accessing their personal belongings.
- Supervise clients during medication self-administration.
- Assist with meal service.
- Oversee bedtime routines, including distribution of bedding and linens.
- Conduct routine safety checks in sleeping and bathing areas.
- Manage clothing donations as needed.
- Supervise shower schedules and distribute hygiene products.
- Accurately report and document all incidents.
- Provide transportation for clients when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Available Shifts:
- 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM
- 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM
Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is required. A minimum of one year of experience in human services is preferred. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, is necessary. A valid and clean NYS Driver's License is also required.
Additional Information
Flexibility to work at various locations and on weekends is essential.
