Job Summary

The Senior Practice Management Specialist for Investment Funds will be an integral part of a dynamic team dedicated to enhancing accountability, operational efficiency, and structured workflows within the designated practice group.

The Senior Practice Management Specialist is tasked with facilitating the daily execution of business requirements and strategic objectives outlined by practice leadership.

In this capacity, the Senior Practice Management Specialist will report directly to the Director of Practice Management and collaborate closely with various business operations departments (including Knowledge, Finance, Legal Personnel, Marketing/Business Development, IT, HR, and the Office of General Counsel) to bolster practice operations, business strategies, financial viability, resource management, and the overarching plans of the Investment Funds practice group.

Responsibilities/Duties

- Assist the Director of Practice Management and Practice Group leadership in executing, monitoring, and reporting on a strategic practice group plan with specific, attainable goals centered on revenue, profitability, staffing, reputation, brand visibility, and competitive advantage.

- Prepare presentations and other operational documents to communicate practice group plans, decisions, and initiatives.

- Analyze practice group financial metrics (revenue, profitability, realization, utilization, WIP, A/R); regularly compile reports on key performance indicators, track progress, and implement related action items.

- Refine and optimize practice group reporting as necessary.

- Monitor, track, and report on the practice group's operational expenditures.

- Collaborate with the Professional Development Manager on training, resource planning, recruitment, retention, partnership development, succession planning, and promotion processes, as well as other aspects of talent management.

- Work with Legal Talent and Office Management teams to facilitate lateral onboarding and integration programs for new attorneys.

- Partner with the Director of Practice Management and Marketing/Business Development to support client teams and various internal industry working groups and their initiatives.

- Assist with special projects such as competitor analysis and industry research.

- Maintain a comprehensive list of pipeline matters.

- Support the daily operations of the practice group, including organizing and facilitating practice group meetings and retreats.

- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in legal and professional services management; communicate the implications of new innovations, developments, and regulations.

- Contribute to fostering a culture that prioritizes teamwork and professional excellence.

Required Skills

- Strong analytical capabilities; adept at developing and executing project and operational plans from broadly defined objectives.

- Proven track record of driving continuous improvement in business operations, technology, and practices within a complex, matrixed, global professional services environment.

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build consensus around business operations and decisions.

- Outstanding presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills; confidence and professionalism to engage credibly with all organizational levels, tailoring communications effectively for diverse groups and stakeholders.

- Experience in a law firm or professional services setting is preferred.

- Prior experience with M&A transactions or fund formation is advantageous.

Required Experience

- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a business professional with a solid understanding of financial analysis, project management, client relationship management, and talent management.

Required Education

- A bachelor's degree is required.

Salary Information

NY only:
The estimated base salary range for this position is $110k to $125k at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on various factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location from which the applicant will be performing the job. This role is exempt, meaning it is not eligible for overtime pay.
