The Generations Program Director, also known as the Memory Care Director, plays a pivotal role in overseeing all clinical, programming, and staffing elements of the Generations Program within the community. This position encompasses responsibilities such as conducting pre-admission assessments, developing resident programming, and supervising staff training and performance. The Director acts as a vital resource for residents and their families, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and evaluate the Generations unit's programs and activities, adhering to Federal and State regulations governing dementia care.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise department staff, focusing on candidates passionate about dementia care management. Provide recommendations to the Executive Director regarding staff evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels in alignment with resident needs and company policies.
  • Facilitate ongoing education for caregivers in dementia care, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct orientations for new staff members to familiarize them with departmental goals and procedures.
  • Manage job coverage during staff absences through effective delegation or personal involvement.
  • Serve as the Vibrant Life Coordinator until the Generations unit reaches a sufficient resident count for additional staffing.
  • Conduct comprehensive resident assessments in accordance with established guidelines, ensuring timely documentation and care planning.
  • Monitor resident health through regular observations and assessments, keeping the Executive Director and families informed of any changes.
  • Maintain accurate resident care information within the care system, ensuring all documentation is complete and up-to-date.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to provide comprehensive care.
  • Act as a liaison for residents and families, facilitating communication with healthcare professionals.
  • Promote the community through tours and public engagement.
  • Support administrative efforts in maintaining high occupancy rates.
  • Participate in property inspections conducted by regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure a safe environment for residents and staff, adhering to established safety protocols.
  • Oversee inventory management for necessary supplies.
  • Engage in daily meetings to address departmental issues and foster teamwork.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitor departmental expenditures.
  • Stay informed about advancements in dementia care and implement relevant practices.
  • Perform clerical tasks associated with the role.
  • Exhibit professionalism and teamwork in all interactions.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • Current LPN license required.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Preferred educational background includes two years of college in gerontology, nursing, social work, or a related field.
  • Preferred experience includes two years in residential care for the elderly or specialized dementia care programs.
