Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Create and implement IEPs that translate into measurable success for students, aligning with our school's curriculum and goals.
  • Establish a Supportive Learning Environment: Design and maintain a learning environment that excites, invests, and motivates students to achieve academic and behavioral expectations.
  • Design and Facilitate Modified Lesson Plans: Develop and implement modified, differentiated unit and lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
  • Support General Education Teachers: Collaborate with general education teachers to include students with special needs in the classroom, promoting a culture of inclusivity and support.
  • Implement Remedial Education: Provide targeted support to students who require additional assistance, ensuring they stay on track with their academic goals.

  • Monitor Student Progress: Regularly monitor student progress, using data to drive instruction and behavior interventions, and make informed decisions to support student growth.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Required: A Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • PA Special Education Certification: Current PA Special Education teacher certification is required.
  • Experience Working with Students with Disabilities: Experience working with students with various disabilities in an inclusive setting is essential.
  • Strong Knowledge of Instructional Strategies: A strong knowledge of instructional strategies for students with disabilities, including differentiated instruction and universal design for learning.
  • Instructional and Classroom Management Skills: Proven instructional and classroom management skills, with a record of increasing academic and behavioral growth for students with special needs.
  • Collaboration and Communication Skills: Skilled at collaborating with others, including general education teachers, support staff, and families, and possessing strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Flexible and able to adjust priorities and strategies in response to changing needs, with a high level of personal organization, planning, and follow-through.
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania and Common Core Standards: Familiarity with Pennsylvania and Common Core Standards, and the ability to design and implement lessons that align with these standards.
  • Familiarity with Responsive Classroom Approach: Familiarity with the Responsive Classroom approach, or a willingness to learn and implement this approach.
  • Receptiveness to Feedback and Continuous Improvement: Receptiveness to feedback, a positive attitude, and a desire to continuously improve and grow as a professional.
  • Clearances: All required clearances, including child abuse clearance, FBI clearance, and Act 34 clearance.
