Position Overview:

The Senior Food Service Operations Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating the strategic planning, organization, training, and leadership essential to meet defined goals in sales, cost management, employee retention, customer satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness, and overall client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise both salaried managers and hourly staff within the Food Service Department.
  • Oversee comprehensive management, direct client interactions, and ensure the quality of service provided.
  • Mentor the Assistant Food Service Director to manage newly acquired contracts and current business opportunities; innovate programs aimed at enhancing student nutrition.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with district administrative personnel and Board of Trustees; recruit, train, and develop team members; assign tasks and direct workflow; evaluate performance; recognize and address issues effectively.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for the district, ensuring labor, food costs, and other financial elements align with targets.
  • Complete necessary daily, weekly, and monthly documentation such as inventory, production records, and payroll.
  • Participate in the preparation and service of food and beverage items, adhering to established food standards for preparation, presentation, sanitation, and safety, including compliance with HACCP and OSHA guidelines.
  • Achieve organizational goals in sales, service quality, facility appearance, sanitation, and cleanliness through effective employee training and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Ensure adherence to cash handling and reconciliation procedures to maintain control over cash and other receipts.
  • Assist in maintaining customer service standards and operational efficiency as needed.
  • Develop, plan, and execute marketing and promotional initiatives for SLA Management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition, Food Service Management, Dietetics, Culinary Arts, Business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the Food Service industry, with 6-8 years in a leadership role within the K-12 sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of food and catering trends, particularly in the K-12 market, focusing on quality, production, sanitation, and cost control.
  • Experience with P&L accountability and financial management.
  • Strong leadership, staff management, coaching, and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong presentation abilities.
  • Ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders, including management, clients, customers, and team members.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and accounting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), POS systems, and internet applications.
  • ServSafe certification is required.
  • Must pass a background check and maintain a valid driver's license with current auto insurance.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 per year
