Position Overview

Role Summary:

This position focuses on the assessment and treatment of individuals experiencing communication delays or disorders, including articulation, language, voice, stuttering, and swallowing difficulties. The Speech Pathologist will conduct evaluations and deliver tailored habilitative or rehabilitative services for both organic and functional communication challenges, utilizing direct and indirect intervention methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Diagnostic Assessment: Conduct both basic and advanced diagnostic evaluations in speech-language pathology to address communication and swallowing disorders.
  2. Educational Role: Mentor and oversee graduate students in Speech/Language Pathology and clinical fellows. Contribute to the development of innovative programs aimed at improving patient care and serve as a resource for fellow clinicians.
  3. Care Evaluation: Analyze diagnostic and therapeutic testing results to set patient objectives and adjust treatment plans as necessary. Ensure effective communication to support continuity of care.
  4. Service Implementation: Employ current and advanced methodologies to deliver high-quality rehabilitative services. Provide habilitation and rehabilitation for individuals with communication and cognitive impairments, prioritizing care based on patient and family needs.
  5. Team Participation: Engage in departmental meetings and in-service training to enhance the quality of clinical services.
  6. Quality Assurance: Maintain accurate and reliable records of patient interactions and progress. Participate in quality improvement initiatives alongside clinical specialists and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications:

  1. Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
  2. Current or temporary non-renewable license to practice as a Speech Pathologist approved by the NC Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology.
  3. Valid NC Driver's License.
  4. New graduates with the necessary credentials are encouraged to apply.
  5. Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence from the Clinical Certification Board of the American Speech and Hearing Association or currently pursuing certification following the completion of the clinical fellowship year.
