Job Overview

Objective: The Photovoltaic Systems Specialist plays a crucial role in the strategic planning, design, and execution of solar energy systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform site evaluations to determine the viability of solar and energy storage solutions.
  • Gather structural, electrical, and relevant site data to inform the design process.
  • Develop or oversee the creation of technical specifications for photovoltaic (PV) systems, taking into account materials, site conditions, functional or contractual obligations, design criteria, and other influencing factors.
  • Compile checklists for the assessment or inspection of completed solar projects.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, or connection schematics.
  • Formulate plans for the development, monitoring, and evaluation of solar energy systems.
  • Evaluate system performance through computer simulations.
  • Offer technical guidance or support to installation teams during the phases of installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning, or performance assessment.
  • Establish standard operating procedures and quality or safety benchmarks for solar installation tasks.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with CAD software.
  • Knowledge of NEC and associated regulations.
  • Possession of any required licenses.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering design within the renewable energy sector (solar).
  • At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000 per year
