Position Summary

As a Housing Advocate, you will engage in various responsibilities aimed at supporting vulnerable populations. You will be part of a shelter system that provides emergency accommodations to numerous individuals nightly and permanent supportive housing to many daily. This role offers the chance to assist individuals in their journey to rebuild their lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to clients seeking resources beyond just shelter.
  • Monitor and manage activities within the shelter, ensuring adherence to established rules and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly with residents regarding shelter regulations and provide guidance.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and clean environment, identifying special needs, and referring them to supervisors.
  • Handle phone inquiries, take messages, and engage with the public.
  • Collaborate with a team dedicated to serving the homeless population in our community.
Training and Development

As an Advocate, you will receive training to:

  • Effectively mediate conflicts among residents.
  • Document incidents appropriately and maintain accurate records of resident stays.
  • Provide crisis intervention and liaise with community resources, including emergency services.
Qualifications for Success
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and manage challenging situations with professionalism.
  • Capability to multitask and maintain composure in high-pressure environments.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to make informed decisions.

Education and Experience
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
