About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Educator to join our team at Quality Talent Group. As a Nurse Educator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality of care for our residents by providing education and training to our staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Development: Design and deliver educational programs to meet the needs of our staff, focusing on safety, body mechanics, infection control, and hazardous materials.
  • Employee Health and Orientation: Oversee the employee health and orientation processes to ensure compliance with regulatory mandates and provide top-notch customer service.
  • Coaching and Counseling: Provide coaching and counseling to staff to improve their performance and address any issues that may arise.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of educational activities, attendance, and responses.
  • Reporting: Report on active projects, reactions, and progress on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • QAPI Participation: Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) monthly meetings and projects.
  • Staff Programs and Services: Assist the Director of Quality and Director of Nursing in planning, coordinating, and implementing staff programs and services to ensure a well-educated staff.
  • Consultation: Consult with the Director of Quality and Director of Nursing as needed and keep them informed of any issues or concerns.
  • Interdepartmental Relationships: Maintain good inter- and intradepartmental relationships, interacting effectively with all internal and external customers.
  • Return to Work: Maintain close contact with employees on disability or workers' compensation and their physicians to facilitate their earliest possible return to work.
  • Incident Reporting: Review incident reports and OSHA reports involving employees injured at work and coordinate education loss prevention programs with our safety program.
  • Tuberculosis Screening: Provide annual tuberculosis screening of volunteers and direct follow-up procedures for positive Mantoux testing within the scope of practice and under the direction of the Director of Nursing.
  • Vaccinations: Administer Hep B vaccines and Mantoux (TB skin tests) to various contracted agencies and individuals per guidelines and under the direction of the Director of Quality or Director of Nursing.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience as a Nurse Educator in Long Term Care.
  • Licensure: Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience working in a long-term care setting.
  • Creativity and Coaching: Demonstrated ability to creatively educate and coach.
  • CPR Certification: CPR certification required, with the option to become a trainer.
  • Training: Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact, educate, coach, and communicate with a wide cross-section of individuals in a courteous, tactful, and effective manner.
  • Confidentiality: Possess the highest ethical standards with respect to discretion and regard for confidentiality.
  • Basic Ethical and Legal Principles: Possess an abiding commitment to basic ethical and legal principles.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of emergency preparedness, safety, fire, disaster, OSHA, and infection control procedures.
