Job Overview:

The Speech Therapist II is responsible for diagnosing and treating complex communication disorders. This role ensures adherence to regulatory standards and oversees the activities of junior staff while contributing to community health initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts assessments and diagnostic evaluations, providing tailored treatment plans for both adults and children experiencing communication challenges, voice disorders, swallowing difficulties, and neurological issues. Communicates findings to physicians and caregivers.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians to adjust treatment strategies as necessary. Provides mentorship to less experienced therapists and participates in the creation of in-service training programs for professional development. Monitors the performance of contract therapists and patient care in external facilities. Acts as a consultant within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations. Identifies cost-saving opportunities and service enhancements. Engages in community health programs.
  • Kaiser Permanente routinely reviews compensation for positions. The organization reserves the right to reassess and modify job descriptions or transition roles from salaried to hourly status, with prior notification to affected employees.
Qualifications:
Experience
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a Speech Therapist.
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
License, Certification, Registration
  • California Speech-Language Pathologist License
  • National Provider Identifier
  • Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology Certificate
  • Basic Life Support certification required upon hire
Additional Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ability to thrive in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
