POSITION SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer, the Primary Care Physician is entrusted with delivering comprehensive healthcare services to the patient population served by Community Health Centers of the Central Coast, Inc. (CHC). This role demands a commitment to providing exceptional care while collaborating effectively with the healthcare team.

CHC is dedicated to ensuring the highest standard of care for its patients, which relies on the collective effort and professionalism of its staff. The ideal candidate will exhibit punctuality, cooperation, organization, and enthusiasm in their daily responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Primary Care Physician include, but are not limited to:

  1. Gathering and assessing patient health histories, documenting findings accurately.
  2. Conducting thorough physical examinations and distinguishing between normal and abnormal health indicators.
  3. Providing routine health assessments, diagnostic services, and treatment for various medical conditions.
  4. Upholding the highest standards of medical ethics and ensuring quality care for all patients.
  5. Participating in on-call duties as necessary, collaborating with other medical staff.
  6. Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests to inform patient care.
  7. Administering treatments and medications as required.
  8. Providing immunizations to protect against communicable diseases.
  9. Offering guidance on nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention strategies.
  10. Reporting significant health events to appropriate authorities.
  11. Referring patients to specialists for advanced care when necessary.
  12. Performing minor surgical procedures as needed.
  13. Assisting in the development and evaluation of medical policies and educational programs.
  14. Participating in committees and adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
  15. Maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  16. Engaging in patient follow-up and care coordination to enhance health outcomes.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

May oversee mid-level healthcare providers under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following:

  1. Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution.
  2. Completion of a residency in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics.
  3. Board Certification or eligibility in relevant specialties.
  4. Current knowledge in the field through ongoing education and professional development.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to effectively communicate in English; bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Competence in basic mathematical operations and the ability to interpret data.

REASONING ABILITY

Strong understanding of family-centered medical principles and the ability to apply logical reasoning to various situations.

CERTIFICATIONS

Possession of a valid medical license and certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The role requires physical capability to perform essential functions, including the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and maintain focus on various tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Flexibility in work hours is essential, with potential for evening and weekend shifts, as well as travel to various clinic locations.
