Compensation Range: $9,230.77 – 11,220.06 bi-weekly
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer, the Primary Care Physician is responsible for delivering comprehensive healthcare services to the patient population served by Community Health Centers of the Central Coast, Inc. (CHC). This role requires a commitment to providing high-quality care, which is contingent upon the collaborative efforts of the healthcare team.
The ideal candidate will exhibit professionalism, punctuality, and a cooperative spirit, ensuring a positive environment for both patients and staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Primary Care Physician include, but are not limited to:
- Gathering and assessing patients' health histories, documenting findings accurately.
- Conducting thorough physical examinations to identify normal and abnormal health conditions.
- Providing routine check-ups, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment for various health issues.
- Upholding the highest standards of medical ethics and ensuring quality care for all patients.
- Participating in on-call duties as required by the medical staff.
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests to inform patient care.
- Administering treatments and medications as necessary.
- Providing immunizations to protect against communicable diseases.
- Advising patients on health maintenance, including diet and disease prevention.
- Reporting significant health events to appropriate authorities.
- Referring patients to specialists when specialized care is needed.
- Performing minor surgical procedures as required.
- Assisting in the development and evaluation of medical policies and educational programs.
- Collaborating with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintaining compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
- Engaging in patient management initiatives that consider cultural diversity and local resources.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
May oversee mid-level healthcare providers under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a residency in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics.
- Board Certification or eligibility in the relevant specialty.
- Current knowledge in the field through ongoing education and professional development.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Ability to read and interpret complex medical documents. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Competence in basic arithmetic and the ability to interpret medical data.
REASONING ABILITY
Strong understanding of family-centered medical principles and the ability to apply logical reasoning to clinical situations.
CERTIFICATIONS
Must possess a valid Physician and Surgeon license from the Medical Board of California, along with necessary certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The role requires physical capabilities to perform essential functions, including the ability to lift and move patients as necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Flexibility in scheduling is essential, with potential for evening and weekend shifts as well as travel to various clinic locations.
