About the Role

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Attorney to join our team. As a Senior Attorney, you will play a key role in leading and managing a team of attorneys, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful prosecution of cases and the delivery of high-quality legal services to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Evaluate the performance of assigned professional legal staff, participate in the selection and transfers of unit staff, and recommend and participate in merit and disciplinary decisions.
  • Caseload Management: Use assigned caseload to demonstrate and teach legal skills, allocate resources, and establish policies, procedures, and priorities within the work unit consistent with office and divisional objectives.
  • Staff Supervision: Schedule staff, monitor caseloads, and assure equitable distribution of work, maintain liaison with the courts and other public agencies as it relates to their assigned work unit.
  • Communication and Liaison: Interpret and communicate management objectives to staff in work units, prepare, direct, and conduct trials, defenses, and appeals effectively.
Requirements
  • Admission to the Bar: Admission to the Bar of the State of Minnesota.
  • Experience: Four years or more of experience as a practicing attorney, two of which must have been in the field of public law.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and persuasive public speaking ability, ability to prepare, direct, and conduct trials, defenses, and appeals effectively.
